TB Joshua’s Daughter Endures Torture for Confronting Father’s Abuse
The late megachurch leader TB Joshua, accused of committing sexual crimes on a mass scale, allegedly subjected his daughter, Adube, to years of torture, leading to her homelessness in Lagos, Nigeria. Adube, now 27, revealed the abuse within TB Joshua’s Synagogue Church of All Nations (Scoan). Raised by Evelyn, Joshua’s widow, Adube faced mistreatment from an early age, marked by physical and emotional abuse when she refused to conform to the strict rules imposed by the church.
As part of an elite group known as disciples, Adube endured constant control, sleep deprivation, and dehumanizing punishments. The abuse intensified as rumors of her being TB Joshua‘s illegitimate child circulated, leading to isolation and further mistreatment. The E-News investigation uncovered corroborating testimonies from over 25 former disciples, detailing a culture of sexual abuse within the church.
At 17, Adube confronted her father about the alleged sexual abuse by disciples. This courageous act led to physical assault by TB Joshua and others, resulting in Adube’s social confinement, known as “adaba,” lasting over a year. Homeless at 19, she struggled to survive on the streets until her contact with E-News in 2019 initiated an investigation into Scoan’s abuse.

Despite Scoan denying the allegations, former disciples support Adube’s claims, with many citing her bravery as a catalyst for questioning their faith in TB Joshua. Adube remains steadfast in her pursuit of truth, emphasizing the importance of exposing the abuses she endured. Her dreams include returning to school to complete the education abruptly halted by her tumultuous past. The Africa Eye investigation, conducted by a team of journalists, sheds light on the disturbing reality within TB Joshua‘s church.
